In the state of Gujarat, agriculture is the backbone of rural livelihoods, yet farming remains vulnerable to climatic shocks. Recognising this, the Gujarat Government has instituted the Krishi Rahat Package — a relief mechanism designed to support farmers when crops suffer major losses due to natural calamities. The scheme takes on added importance when we consider three clear risks: drought, heavy rainfall (including flooding/ water‐logging) and unseasonal rainfall/precipitation. Below, we explore how the package addresses each of these risks, and what farmers should keep in mind.

Now you will go to the website, read all the rules and fill the form from the official website below.

1. Risk of Drought
Drought in Gujarat can mean deficient rainfall, poor soil moisture, stressed crops and reduced yields. When such stress leads to more than a defined percentage of crop damage. Krishi Rahat Package allows eligible farmers to receive financial assistance. While many announcements emphasise assistance for heavy rain damage, earlier versions of the relief norms also cover non‐irrigated (“rain‐fed”) crops that suffer drought-like conditions. For instance, in one notification for Kharif 2024–25.
This ensures farmers hit by drought don’t fall into a spiral of debt. The takeaway: when drought affects your holding significantly, you can lodge a claim under the package.

2. Risk of Heavy Rain & Water-logging
In recent years, several districts in Gujarat witnessed crop devastation due to heavy monsoon rains, leading to water-logging, land saturation and yield reduction. The state has responded by declaring relief packages specifically for heavy rainfall events. Many districts reported heavy rain damage in the Kharif season.
Under the Krishi Rahat norms, irrigated/rain-based crops suffering Norms loss due to such extreme rain/water damage are eligible for higher damage.
In essence: if heavy rainfall or water-logging severely affects your crop, you must get your damage surveyed and apply under the relief scheme.

3. Risk of Un-seasonal Rainfall / Precipitation
Un-seasonal rainfall means rain outside the expected window (pre-monsoon showers, late monsoon bursts, untimely showers during harvest) that can damage crops, delay harvest or cause disease/pest attacks. Gujarat has in recent times seen large‐scale crop damage due to such unseasonal events. For instance, the government announced a compensation package worth around ₹ 10,000 crore after unseasonal rains affected Many districts.
While the Krishi Rahat Package broadly covers “natural calamities” including untimely rainfall events, the key lies in damage assessment and meeting the threshold loss for eligibility. Eligible farmers are required to submit supporting documentation—photos, local revenue authority verification, land records—to ensure the claim is processed.
Thus: if un-seasonal rainfall ruins or delays your crops, you must still follow the survey + documentation process to claim relief.

Final Thoughts & Tips for Farmers
The Krishi Rahat Package is a vital safety net for farmers in Gujarat facing climatic risks. However, its effectiveness depends on timely surveying of damage, correct documentation and awareness of the norms (loss threshold, hectare cap, etc.). In practice:

Immediately after damage (drought, heavy rain, un-seasonal rain) contact the local agriculture/ revenue official to register damage.

Keep photographs, crop records and land records handy.

In summary, as climate patterns become more erratic, schemes like the Krishi Rahat Package play a crucial role. By covering key risks—drought, heavy rain and un-seasonal rainfall—and providing direct assistance, the Gujarat Government is helping farmers mitigate income shocks and resume production. Being aware of the scheme’s workings empowers farmers to make timely claims and secure support when it matters most.
